Our Honeyversary Shoot

Tim and I got married just over a year ago and since we moved to New York right after we tied the knot, we didn’t really get a chance to have a nice relaxing honeymoon.  Sure, we took the train across country to the east coast, but with our wedding and the move right after it was just so hectic!  Dreaming of a getaway where we could lounge in the sun all day, we decided that we would celebrate a honeyversary!  We went to the oh-so-popular and oh-so-awesome Ace Hotel and Swim Club in the wonderfully hot Palm Springs and we had the best time ever.  We love the mid century feel that Palm Springs has. All of the houses look so cool and the decorations are so retro-cool! While we were there we swam in the pool for hours on end, bought out all the records at the thrift stores, and of course, we did a photo shoot!

We loved our engagement photos so much that we wanted to have a similar vibe with our latest shoot.  We shot our honeyversary photos with a tripod and wireless trigger, just like before, and of course we had to keep our retro flare!  We incorporated our love of the 50s 60s and 70s  and took inspiration from movies such as Gidget, Beach Party, and of course Palm Springs Weekend.  We found a really great vintage movie projector at a thrift store so we had to use that somehow…and I think it turned out to be so special.  I’m thinking this might be an annual tradition :) We hope you love the photos as much as we do.

In California for Summer!!

We are going to be in Southern California for June and July! If you want to set up an engagement shoot, portrait session, boudoir session, or wedding while we are here, please get in contact with us. We are so excited to be back in the sunshine and palm trees!

Erin & Michael’s City Hall Wedding

Can you think of a better way to spend a rainy Tuesday morning than by shooting a wedding at City Hall in New York City?  Ya, neither could we.  Erin and Michael had a short but sweet ceremony at the downtown landmark and we were there to capture the moments.  We took advantage of the weather and got some beautiful shots of them under their umbrella in front of the gorgeous buildings.  They say that it’s good luck to have rain on your wedding day, so Erin and Michael are off to a good start!

Inside Lovely Bridal Shop

Remember the post we did a while back about the wonderful wedding dresses over at Lovely bridal shop?  Well this past weekend the designer Elizabeth Dye had her trunk show at the shop and that gave us an excuse to head over there.  It seems like every time we visit, Lanie has changed things around and added new beautiful details.  Everything always looks really fresh and sweet, from a chalkboard wall to the stacks of apple crates.  It’s such an inviting environment where you can shop without pressure and where you can find your dream dress with the perfect sparkling accessories.  We wanted Lanie to have beautiful interior shots of her dreamlike wonderland of a store and of course we wanted to share them with you!

Happy Mother’s Day!

We just wanted to say Happy Mother’s Day to our moms and any other moms out there! Thanks for everything you do!

Tim’s Mom…

Merrill’s Mom…

This is more of an ego-boosting post, but we wanted to share :) We were recently contacted by Rebecca Crumley of The Knot to be featured on a segment of The Knot Live about engagement photos. We were thrilled to be asked! Check out the screen shots below and the entire video here. Now is a great time for engagement photos with wedding season rapidly approaching. Contact us for more details!

Isn’t She LOVELY!

Remember when you were a little girl and you imagined your dream wedding? You thought about who you would ask to be your bridesmaids (every girl in your fifth-grade class of course), who you would be marrying (Leonardo DiCaprio…duh!), what colors and flowers and flavor of cake you wanted…but most importantly you pictured the perfect dream dress.  Last weekend we did an amazing shoot for Lovely, a new bridal shop in the West Village, and I was asked to model the beautiful dresses.  Thanks to designers like Sarah Seven, Badgley Mischka, and Elizabeth Dye, I was able to live out my childhood fantasy!  I went from wearing a fairytale princess ball gown to a gorgeous bohemian sheath dress to a sweet fifties inspired tea-length dress, imagining the wedding that would go with each dress (for some reason Leo was still standing at the end of the aisle!)  It was truly an extraordinary experience!

Thanks from the bottom of our hearts go out to Lanie, the beautiful owner of the shop and an incredibly amazing person!  She asked Tim to be the photographer and me to be the model and we could not have had a better team for this wonderful shoot.  If you are in the New York area you MUST check out her shop!  It is located on the sweetest little street in the West Village and you will feel like you are walking into a wonderland filled with whimsical gowns and ethereal hair accessories.  I guarantee you won’t ever want to leave.

Lovely Bridal Shoot Teaser

We did a shoot for Lovely, a new bridal shop opening in the West Village, this past weekend. Here is a little teaser for you all!

Savanna and Andy Engagement VIDEO!

To follow up our previous picture post of Savanna and Andy, here is a video we also shot while we were doing their shoot. This was more of an experiment than anything, but we are all really happy with the results. We hope you all enjoy it too :) We would love to hear your thoughts.

Savanna and Andy: Engagement Shoot

This past weekend Tim and I had the chance to fly to Wisconsin for an engagement shoot with one of the most amazing couples ever.  I may be a little biased, seeing as how the bride-to-be is my best friend in the whole world!  Savanna and Andy met their first week in the college dorms at San Diego State University, and their lives have been an incredible adventure ever since.  They left sunny California for snowy Wisconsin and have built a beautiful life for themselves there.  Andy is an awesome guy and I couldn’t ask for a better man for my bestie.  I am so happy to know that I will be standing beside her as her Matron of Honor in July and we are so thankful that they have asked Tim to be the photographer.  We absolutely cannot wait to capture their special moments and give them beautiful reminders of their celebration of love!
