Dana & Eric's Santa Monica Beach Engagement

We are back in Southern California and we were so excited to kick off our west coast wedding bonanza with an engagement shoot at the Santa Monica Pier! Dana and Eric were just as sunny as the setting, with great personalities and beautiful smiles. We love when couples are as into the shoot as we are, so when this glamorous couple said that they didn’t mind laying down in the sand, we knew we were going to have a great time. Dana even shouted out that she didn’t mind getting her dress wet and ran right in! These two were such a joy to shoot, they were up for anything and even suggested playing a few games in the arcade after a stroll under the boardwalk. Their wedding is in Costa Rica and we just know that it is going to be such a beautiful event! We wish Dana and Eric all the love and happiness in the world!

Lily & Scott's New York Engagement

Our journey with Lily and Scott started under the willowy branches of a tree near a peaceful lake, in a beautiful secluded area known as…okay you guys I’m joking. Our shoot took place at a very busy place in one of New York’s most iconic landmarks, Central Park. But Lily and Scott whisked us away down a little path so that we felt like we had found a little pocket that no one else knew about, our own little secret garden! Our journey continued via the C train downtown to the West Village, where they yet again led us down a secret path that took us from tourist zone to quiet movie set. These two lovebirds showed us all of their favorite spots: the path Scott takes home from work, the little corner where Lily likes to pause her run for a view of the skyline, the tucked away church garden where the two would meet for bagels. It was a whirlwind tour of their world and it was so lovely to be a part of it. The best part is that our journey with Lily and Scott will continue next year, when we will meet again to shoot their incredible wedding in Ojai, California! We can’t wait to join in on the festivities and celebrate the special day with such an awesome couple!

Mala & Abhi's Engagement

Last weekend we met the most beautiful couple, Mala and Abhi, to shoot their Central Park engagement session. We ran all around, listening intently as they talked about their amaaaaazing upcoming wedding in India in between posing for the camera. They were so sweet, so fun, and to be honest I was a little sad when the rain ended our time together! I couldn’t get enough! Was she going to wear a red sari? How long do the wedding festivities last? What kind of desserts do they traditionally serve? I guess we’ll have to stalk their wedding pictures to find out!

Margaret & Bradley's TriBeCa Engagement

One of the best parts of being a photographer is being able to travel to new places. Although we have lived in New York for over 2 years there is still so much we haven’t seen. For Margaret & Bradley’s engagement shoot we met them at Pier 25 in TriBeCa which is a newly constructed place of fun. It has a miniature golf course, skate park, beach volleyball courts, and a playground for the kiddies. It also has amazing views of downtown, including the new Freedom Tower. After we shot around there we headed to the rooftop of their friend’s apartment… 22 stories up! Amazing views!

Meriann & Matt's High Line Engagement

Last weekend we headed to the Meat Packing district and the High Line to shoot these fun engagement photos of Meriann and Matt. They are both from Hawaii and are getting married there next year but they wanted to have some awesome engagement photos taken in New York. While we were shooting, there had to be at least five more photo shoots going on in that area, but we know Meriann and Matt’s was the best :)

Lauren & Jon's Upper West Side Engagement

Since we are moving back to California we sadly have had to turn away a lot of East Coast weddings. However, we have also been contacted by several couples to just shoot their engagement photos so that they get to have the chance to work with us before we leave. That makes us feel so happy and honored and we love shooting as many East Coasters as possible. Lauren & Jon are getting married next year in Newport, RI and they wanted to do some engagement photos that had some sort of nautical element to it. We met them at the Hudson River and shot around the boats that are docked there and then headed through Riverside Park into the brownstones of the Upper West Side. They are going to use one of the photos for their save the date and so they brought along a banner than Lauren made that has the date of their wedding. Awesome.

Kristin & Jon's West Village Engagement

A couple of weeks ago we shot an engagement shoot that had us so giddy that we couldn’t stop smiling all the way home. Kristin and Jon came at us like a hurricane, their energy was so crazy and fun and we ran all around the West Village capturing their happy faces and goofball antics. With Kristin’s incredible enthusiasm and Jon’s ease to go with the flow, we went from kooky cute photo ops in front of random doors to super sweet shots of the couple playing in the park. They came prepared with cute initial signs, fancy ensembles, and bubbles to make for some really personal, not to mention adorable, images. We loved shooting these love birds in their pre-wedding bliss, and we can’t wait to photograph their big day in September!

Nicole & Alex's Flatiron Engagement

Summers are insane. Both for the amount of shooting we do and the increasingly hot weather. As August approaches, every day in New York is a little bit hotter and and a little bit more sauna-esque. Nicole and Alex’s engagement shoot was our third shoot of the weekend and it was one of the hottest days yet (of course as I type this it is even hotter outside… real feel 110 according to Accuweather). However, even though the heat was beating down on us, Nicole and Alex… and their cute and rambunctious dog, Starbuck, made the shoot so much fun! We ran around the Flatiron area, shooting amongst the green trees of Madison Square Park, the huge buildings, and the giant conehead-like sculpture in the park. It was great chatting with Nicole and Alex about their wedding that we will be shooting and their Italian honeymoon that will immediately follow (sadly they aren’t bringing us along to document it).

Liz & Nick's DUMBO Engagement

It’s such a great feeling when you walk away from a wedding or an engagement shoot feeling like you’ve acquired a new set of friends because the couple is just so wonderful. So it’s always a treat when you are already friends with the couple and you walk away feeling like you know them oh so much more. Tim met Liz two years ago at the start of grad school when they bonded over their extremely sarcastic humor and their affinity for Apple products. Since then, we’ve gotten to know Liz and her sweetheart Nick as we bonded over the heartbreak that was LOST and our affinity for dogs. With Liz’s sassafras style and Nick’s laid back attitude, they balance each other out and make such a fun couple. Love you guys!

Tiffany & Jon's Joyous Engagement Shoot

When we met with Tiffany and Jon a few months back, we knew that these two were going to put on one hell of a wedding based on their (Tiffany’s) attention to detail and their (Jon’s) hilarious antics. And now with the engagement shoot done, we absolutely can not wait to see what they have planned for their big day. You can’t go wrong with DIY banners, cute etsy signs, a bunch of big red balloons, huge personalities, and the (second) cutest dog on the planet. We couldn’t stop laughing as we shot the couple on their Brooklyn stoop, in their colorful tchotchke-filled home, and on their rooftop only accessible by one scary little ladder. As we sipped our water and shared our sadness over the loss of Domino magazine (me and Tiffany), and our love of Van Damme movies (Tim and Jon, obviously), we felt like old friends getting together for a day of fun. We had such a blast with these two lovebirds and we are so looking forward to their celebration of love!
