Lovely Bridal Shop is Coming to LA!

So we know it’s been a while since a post. We have been adjusting to life back in LA… we don’t really need all the sweaters and coats we bought in New York anymore lol. One thing that is happening with us is that our favorite bridal shop in New York, Lovely, is opening an LA store! They asked us to shoot a promo campaign for them and we had an awesome time shooting some epic LA photos for them. The hair and makeup was done by one of our great friends (and an amazing stylist) Aubrey Marie. She does weddings too!! Enjoy the sunny Southern California photos.

Royal Wedding Inspired Shoot with Ivy & Aster

This past weekend the New York City Bridal Market took place, and once again the star of the show was Ivy & Aster. Their Fall 2011 collection is an extension of their previous line, still dreamy and whimsical and oh so pretty! The flattering styles paired with gorgeous draping, and not to mention the must-have accessories, make these soft dresses into dreams come true. The eye-catching booth was inspired by The Princess and the Pea, a tribute to Kate Middleton and her upcoming royal wedding to the dashing Prince William. Meet Ivy and Aster, the sweetest new bridal line on the block. This Atlanta-based line of whimsical bridal gowns, ethereal reception dresses, and dreamy bridesmaid dresses is brand new and as of now it is only available at Lovely, but coming to other stores in December! We were lucky to meet Jessica, the designer behind these darling dresses, and she definitely embodies the joyful exuberance of Ivy and Aster. And I was luckiest of all because for three whole days I got to play dress up in these incredible cupcake dresses! I was the fit model at the NYC International Bridal Week, a market for buyers nation-wide to check out the designs of all the bridal designers. Being a fit model means that whenever buyers came to look at this collection, I was asked to put on all the dresses that they were interested in. I quickly found a few favorites, and I definitely didn’t mind standing around in such soft, beautiful creations all day! Not only did I get to model, but Tim shot the promo pictures, as well as a few shots at the bridal market! Stephanie & John's Central Park Love Shoot

Walking in Central Park on a beautiful day is so much fun, but then add in a photo shoot with an amazing couple and it gets so much better! Stephanie and John have been married for a little while and wanted some awesome pictures taken to commemorate this wonderful time in their lives. We had no idea just how big Central Park is! It seems like every time we walk in there we end up somewhere completely different! Stephanie and John ran us all around that park, pointing out some of their favorite spots and giving us great photo ops. They couldn’t stop laughing the entire time, so of course neither could we! We were so happy to capture their love for each other and we hope you enjoy the photos as much as we do!

Our Honeyversary Shoot

Tim and I got married just over a year ago and since we moved to New York right after we tied the knot, we didn’t really get a chance to have a nice relaxing honeymoon. Sure, we took the train across country to the east coast, but with our wedding and the move right after it was just so hectic! Dreaming of a getaway where we could lounge in the sun all day, we decided that we would celebrate a honeyversary! We went to the oh-so-popular and oh-so-awesome Ace Hotel and Swim Club in the wonderfully hot Palm Springs and we had the best time ever. We love the mid century feel that Palm Springs has. All of the houses look so cool and the decorations are so retro-cool! While we were there we swam in the pool for hours on end, bought out all the records at the thrift stores, and of course, we did a photo shoot! We loved our engagement photos so much that we wanted to have a similar vibe with our latest shoot. We shot our honeyversary photos with a tripod and wireless trigger, just like before, and of course we had to keep our retro flare! We incorporated our love of the 50s 60s and 70s and took inspiration from movies such as Gidget, Beach Party, and of course Palm Springs Weekend. We found a really great vintage movie projector at a thrift store so we had to use that somehow…and I think it turned out to be so special. I’m thinking this might be an annual tradition :) We hope you love the photos as much as we do.

Remember when you were a little girl and you imagined your dream wedding? You thought about who you would ask to be your bridesmaids (every girl in your fifth-grade class of course), who you would be marrying (Leonardo DiCaprio…duh!), what colors and flowers and flavor of cake you wanted…but most importantly you pictured the perfect dream dress. Last weekend we did an amazing shoot for Lovely, a new bridal shop in the West Village, and I was asked to model the beautiful dresses. Thanks to designers like Sarah Seven, Badgley Mischka, and Elizabeth Dye, I was able to live out my childhood fantasy! I went from wearing a fairytale princess ball gown to a gorgeous bohemian sheath dress to a sweet fifties inspired tea-length dress, imagining the wedding that would go with each dress (for some reason Leo was still standing at the end of the aisle!) It was truly an extraordinary experience! Thanks from the bottom of our hearts go out to Lanie, the beautiful owner of the shop and an incredibly amazing person! She asked Tim to be the photographer and me to be the model and we could not have had a better team for this wonderful shoot. If you are in the New York area you MUST check out her shop! It is located on the sweetest little street in the West Village and you will feel like you are walking into a wonderland filled with whimsical gowns and ethereal hair accessories. I guarantee you won’t ever want to leave.

Aubrey Marie is a Sweet Little Pinup!

One of our dear friends came into town last week for a visit, but when you have a friend visiting who is a vintage beauty queen and also happens to be a fantastic hair stylist and makeup artist, you just HAVE to rock out a few photo shoots (like the one we posted of her and her boyfriend gallivanting around New York)! Aubrey Marie is a swing-dancing, retro-loving pinup girl so of course a boudoir shoot was an obvious UHHH YAAAAAA!!! She did her own hair and makeup and the wardrobe was provided by Sugar Darling Vintage, and the result was pure Vargas! We truly are her biggest fans (she did my hair and makeup for our wedding!) so if you are in the Southern California area and are in need of an amazing hair stylist or makeup artist for weddings, theatre, movies, ANYTHING then please check out her website here! Her sassy pinup pictures are a present for her boyfriend, and with Valentine’s Day just around the corner you can’t give a better present than a sexy boudoir shoot with us!

A New York Winter Love Story

Two of our darling friends from Los Angeles came out to Manhattan to celebrate the New Year with us and to have a great time in the city. Aubrey and Kendrick have been together for almost a year, and they are just so darn cute it would knock your socks off! They met at a swing dancing club and their love for vintage culture and fashion brought them together. Their retro vibe made it so much fun to shoot them because they fit perfectly with our style! It was Kendrick’s first time in Manhattan so we wanted to make sure he was able to see everything important. They bought candied almonds in Central Park, had cupcakes in the Lower East Side, and ate amazing cheap pizza…ya I think we covered all of the important stuff! This is a mega picture post because we just HAD to post ALL OF THESE!!! We also shot some amazing boudoir photos of Aubrey that we’ll post in a couple of days. Enjoy :)

Autumn Bridal Shoot in Connecticut

So when you have a beautiful wife like I do it is hard not to take pictures of her all the time! This past weekend was no exception. We made a drive out to Connecticut because we had never been and we want to visit as many places on the east coast as we can before we move back to the west. The trees are almost all naked by now, but that meant lots of leaves on the ground! It was awesome. Mer put on a cute little teacup wedding dress and a giant bow and we shot some really fun photos! We had such a blast shooting Mark and Kelli, who just moved to the big city from North Carolina. Maybe it was so much fun because Mark is a comedian and Kelli is an actress, so they knew exactly what to do once the cameras were on them. Or maybe it was because they are one of the most adorable couples on the planet! They kept each other laughing through the whole shoot, giving it a laid-back, casual feel that never felt forced. It was amazing to see just how well they complemented each other, and we feel so lucky to give them these photos to treasure.
