Tiffany & Jon's Rustic Fall Farm Wedding

It’s hard for me to describe this wedding without using swear words and a bajillion exclamation points, that is how (insert swear word) awesome it was (!!!!!!!!!!!!). We knew from the moment we met Tiffany and Jon for their engagement shoot that their wedding would be one amazing affair, and for those six months we dreamed about their big day as if it were our own. The stunning bride and her girls got ready in a fog of hairspray at the apartment that she shares with Jon, while the studly groom and the boys got ready directly across the street at their friend’s apartment complete with a bloody mary bar and personal bartender. Before the schoolbus came to pick up the bridal party, Tiffany had her big reveal in front of Jon and all of their nearest and dearest, showing off her sassy cupcake dress while the onlookers whistled and cheered.

The ceremony was a true testimonial to the couple with their friends reading song lyrics instead of bible verses, personal and hilarious vows, and the most amazing shower of confetti at the kiss. As promised, the reception was filled with booze, BBQ, and booty shaking. The Queens County Farm Museum was in full fall swing, featuring corn mazes, pumpkin patches, and petting zoos, and Tiffany and Jon were up for anything as we ran around the farm snapping photos in the amazing sunset. It was definitely the party that topped all other parties, and that is because these darlings are possibly the sweetest most fun two people on this planet. They just wanted everyone to have a good time, and I’m sure that every single guest will talk about this wedding for years and years to come! As much as we loved this wedding, we loved the couple even more and we could not have asked for more amazing clients (friends!) and we just know that their life together will be one big fiesta!

We were so lucky to end our New York experience with such a gigantic bang! Now we’re back on the west coast and gearing up for some sunshiney weddings. Later this week we will be sharing our first ever California engagement shoot, so make sure to check back to see what we’re doing!

Nicole & Alex's Sun West Studios Wedding

Sorry for our long break everyone! We took a whirlwind three week trip to Italia before packing up all of our earthly possessions and driving across country to Los Angeles! We are back on the west coast now, soaking up the sunshine, and we have a lot of wonderful posts lined up for you! First up: A true classic New York wedding! Nicole and Alex were such a blast to be with. Surrounded by an entourage of bridal party members, we headed to Grand Central Station to shoot their portraits. Nicole looked so stunning that a little girl walking passed yelled, “Look mom! A princess!”. We then jumped in a limo and headed to Sun West Studios for the big event where the ceremony was beautifully set against an incredible fall foliage backdrop, the vows were sweet and romantic, and the dance party went on long after we were gone. It was such a blast getting to know these two darlings and to spend so much time with all of their friends and family, celebrating their special day!

Kristin & Jon's Rustic and Vintage Stadium Wedding

You may remember Kristin and Jon from their adorable engagement shoot a few months ago (I mean who could forget the happy faces!), we knew their big day was going to be awesome so we couldn’t wait to capture the fun. Let’s start with the bride’s incredible style…the killer smile, the stunning black and white dress, the unexpected black birdcage veil, and the hot pink Louboutin booties (also notice the vintage beaded dress that she changed into for their getaway…it was her mama’s!)! Hottest bride ever? Yes. Coolest bridesmaid styling? Check. Smitten groom? Oh yes! They kicked off the ceremony in the chapel at Penn State, then they hopped a bus to Beaver Stadium for a spectacular reception. With sweet personal details like thrifted vintage plates for each guest, old postcards used as escort cards, and crates of fresh flowers and vegetables, Kristin and Jon gave the party a cozy “farm to table” feel, all while inside one of the largest stadiums in the world. It was a great way to combine Jon’s love of sports with Kristin’s rustic sense of style, making it so genuine and personal. We loved getting to know them through all of the stories told by their friends and family and we were so honored to be their photographers! Enjoy the photos!

Erin & Mark's Seaside Wedding with Hurricane Irene

This handsome man landed this gorgeous woman by uttering one simple sentence: “G’day love”. Note to all you Australian men reading this (because there has to be at least one, right?), you could say just about any sentence to stop an American girl in her tracks. Seriously, we swoon! Erin and Mark’s gorgeous wedding took place at The View in Oakdale, New York, where the rain paused just long enough for the majority of the ceremony, only to start up again for the finale of the I dos! If rain equals good luck on your wedding day, then Erin and Mark have it made because they got married on the day that hurricane Irene decided to hit the east coast. Luckily the hurricane passed by and left everyone on the dance floor unscathed, but the rainstorm was enough to guarantee these two lovebirds many many years of happiness!

Kristy & Patrick's Brooklyn Wedding and Parade

Well ladies and gentlemen, we have officially found the cutest couple in the world. And by cutest, I mean CUTEST! Look at how adorable they are! Kristy’s sassy dress, Patrick’s amorous smile, the handmade bouquet and boutonnieres, and the parade! They had all of their guests meet a few blocks away from the venue, then armed with vintage noisemakers, instruments and flags, they partied their way down the street until they reached their celebration destination! It was the most wonderful way to make an entrance! The party was intimate and romantic, and we felt so honored to be included in this small group to watch these sweet lovebirds giggle and smooch and say I DO!

Kate & Nate's DIY Wedding in the Poconos

Kate and Nate are all kinds of awesome…Kate designed everything from the bunting escort cards to the incredible boutonnieres, Nate built their getaway hot rod from scratch, and together they make such a freaking cute couple that it’s so easy to fall in love with them. They said their I Dos at a Catholic mass ceremony in front of their friends and family, and just made their round in the super cool hot rod before the skies opened up for some good luck rain! Soaked, yet giddy, the party moved to The Inn at Pocono Manner where there were plenty of cupcakes and lots of dancing (these are a few of my faaaavorite things). Some of our most memorable highlights include Kate’s dad’s “special” apple cider being passed around in dixie cups, the garter toss seduction, and capturing photos of the bridal party doing what they do best. This was such a fun party for such a sweet couple, and we couldn’t be happier for them!

Danielle & Jimmy's Treat Filled Boathouse Wedding

Danielle and Jimmy’s wedding took place at Loeb’s Boathouse in Central Park, and you certainly can’t get more New York than that! Their short but oh so sweet ceremony was followed by a reception filled with cupcakes, cake pops, and all the candy your inner child’s imagination can fathom! Enough to make any sweet tooth cry with happiness, but what was even sweeter was the couple themselves. When we whisked them away for their portraits in the beautiful Central Park, they were just gushing over each other. And their details were absolutely adorable: handmade pinwheels guided the guests to their seats where they were welcomed by a photograph of either Danielle’s or Jimmy’s parents or grandparents on their wedding day. And the guestbook was such a wonderful idea: they had a huge canvas surrounded by paints and brushes so that the well wishes of their friends and family would become art for their living room. The icing on the cake was their getaway on a bicycle taxi…only in New York!

Nicole & Gerrit's Brooklyn Flower Shop Bar Wedding

A few weeks ago we shot a very intimate and fun wedding in Brooklyn at Sycamore Flower Shop. The venue was a flower shop and bar all rolled into one. It also had a little case of very tempting vintage birc-a-brac for sale. I love all the hybrid businesses that exist in New York. The decor of the place was awesome and made for a great backdrop. Nicole & Gerrit wanted to have a wedding that was basically just a party that happened to have a wedding ceremony towards the beginning. That’s exactly what they got. This wedding gave us one of our favorite groomsmen pictures yet! It’s so easy to shoot photos when the people you are shooting want to make a fun photo.

Rob & Jessica's DIY Small Town Connecticut Wedding

Warning: lots of words needed to describe this uniquely detailed wedding! When we shot Jessica and Rob’s incredible library engagement shoot a few months ago, they had so many sweet details that we couldn’t wait to see what they had planned for their wedding day. Needless to say we were not disappointed in the least! Leave it to the elementary school teacher to have everything planned to a tee with so many hand-crafted goodies to make your heart jump for joy. The groomsmen all wore large hand-sewn heart felt pins for boutonnières, and smaller versions were given out to the guest to “wear their hearts on their sleeves”, a beautiful painted “Ceremony” sign led the guests to the nuptials, the “I do”s were said against a DIY paper garland, and all of the flowers, including the bouquets, were made with tissue paper from all of the wedding presents that the couple have been receiving for the past few months. The entire celebration took place at the Keeler Tavern Museum and Garden House in Ridgefield, Connecticut, where the rolling lawn hosted croquet games and the courtyard was lined with adorable photos of Jessica and Rob from their childhood and their relationship. The ceremony took place on a rooftop patio, where the couple exchanged vows before the officiant announced “You may now update your facebook status”. From there the guests enjoyed cocktails, pomegranate iced tea, and basil lemonade before the doors of the Garden House opened up to reveal the simple and elegant dining room. Jessica had hand-drawn all of the placemats to incorporate the guests’ names, and the large paper flower centerpieces made it feel like the garden had been brought indoors. Guests dined and danced inside yet were free to wander the beautiful grounds during the party, challenging each other to croquet matches and strolling around under paper parasols. When the sun had set and the stars came out to dance, Jessica and Rob made their romantic getaway through a sea of bubbles as they ran to the limo. They left their guest in their wake, some making their way to the exits while the others made their way back to the dance floor to keep the party going. It was a night filled with great music, fun crafts, and the sound of laughter ringing out from the couple’s table. We have never seen a happier, giddier bride! She definitely lit up the room with her enormous smile, and her adorable husby just couldn’t keep his eyes off of her. It was definitely sweet to see these high school sweetheart express their love for each other in front of their friends and family. We love love love Jessica and Rob and we wish them the most wonderful life together!

Laura & David's Block Island Waterfront Wedding

The Sullivan House on Block Island, Rhode Island was built in 1903 and sits on a hilltop with views of the Atlantic Ocean on one side and New Harbor on the other side. The house itself is remarkable, with a wrap around porch and all wood interior, but it’s the sprawling lawns and incredible views that make this the perfect spot for a wedding. Laura and David took full advantage of that and were married under blue sunny skies atop that very grassy hill. Surrounded by friends, family, and their very sweet pup Lily, the couple said their vows overlooking the harbor, then partied the night away under a tent filled with twinkly lights and a variety of musical acts that had everyone on their feet. Laura’s brother’s a capella group entertained the crowd, as well as her childhood friend who dedicated a few special songs to the couple, and they even had one of their friends perform an unforgettable rap celebrating the day. The Two Man Gentlemen Band ended the night with their jazzy swing numbers and had everybody begging for the night to go on and on! Fortunately, there was an after party that started with a crazy pinata and ended down at the beach complete with a bonfire, s’mores, and of course sparklers so the couple was able to extend the most wonderful night of their lives. There was such a lovely retro feel to the whole affair, from Laura’s beautiful ensemble to the band to the location, it was so romantic and classic and we were so happy to be involved in this lovely day!
